Welcome to the PTA
Welcome to the website of the Guernsey Grammar School PTA. We hope you will find this site useful and will visit regularly to keep up to date with the various events we organise throughout the year.
COURTYARD PROJECT
The first phase of the conversion of the school's inner courtyard into a garden/quiet area for the students was completed in 2005/2006. We have also tidied-up the Year 7 courtyard and made on or two improvements.
Our focus now is to maintain the work that has been done so that both courtyards remain pleasant, comfortable and above all else useable spaces for the students. To that end the Courtyard Lottery will continue to provide funds specifically for that purpose as we have other exciting projects for which the funds raised in other ways can be used.
General Fundraising
Although a final figure is awaited our Annual Fayre this year (2007) raised in excess of £11,000 for which we are very grateful. Many thanks are due yet again to Melodonia, in conjunction with JVC, for their wonderful support in providing the top prizes in the Annual Fayre main raffle. The continued success of it has allowed us to confirm to the Headteacher that the PTA will provide the necessary funds (approx £14,000) for the school to acquire a laser cutter that can be used by the Design and Technology Department. It will be the only one on the island and we are happy that students at other schools should be allowed access to it if that can be arranged.
In addition to the Annual Fayre we also raise significant funds through our main Annual Quiz and Year 7 Quiz nights. These and other events have allowed us to donate £4000 (double from previous years) to help susbsidise the cost of school sports events.
Our next main fundraising target, subject to suitable permissions being granted, is to acquire a minibus for the school which, we hope, will provide a useful and helpful item. All things being equal, we could be in the position to buy one in 2009. Therefore your continued support is very much appreciated.
